Plant-based Dietary Strategies for Cancer Challenges

Why some food patterns make great sense in cancer situations and why others might be unwise choices. Ideas will be offered for eating to strengthen the immune system while not promoting abnormal cell growth. This presentation will be filled with sound nutritional guidance no matter what additional therapies are utilized.

Michael A. Klaper, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He has practiced acute care medicine in Hawaii, Canada, California, Florida and New Zealand and for the past 35 years us been focusing upon health-promoting food and lifestyle choices to help prevent the need for hospitalization and surgery. Patricio Garcia de Paredes

Cancer through a macrobiotic lens:  Promote prevention by understanding causes and common risk factors and pursue relief through a balanced, plant-based diet and a more natural lifestyle.

Patricio is a founding board member of the Macrobiotic Global Institute and the founder and director of Macrobiotic School Japan (MSJ), an international education center. He is an educator, author and cooking instructor. Patricio worked as a professional chef and has engaged in various enterprises to promote a plant-based food culture that contributes to the health of people and the planet. He was introduced to macrobiotics as a child in his native Spain and is a graduate of the Kushi Institute in the United States. He served as the education director and principal teacher at the Kushi Institute of Japan. Patricio has trained chefs from the Ritz Carlton, Westin, Sha Wellness Clinic and other hotel chains and restaurants to implement macrobiotic foods and menus. In 2023, he founded and serves as the director and main teacher at Global Macrobiotics School, where he has partnered with schools in Malaysia, China and Vietnam to provide macrobiotic education and promote healthy sustainable lifestyles.

Sheri-Lynn DeMaris

Sheri's live cooking demonstration will teach you important dishes to help strengthen the blood and improve the overall immune function.  These recipes can be used to not only keep the body on a healing path of cancer prevention, but to help restore the body after any type of cancer treatment.

Sheri-Lynn DeMaris, M. Ed., is the founder of Macro Magic and a founding board member of the Macrobiotic Global Institute. She is a macrobiotic teacher and cookbook author who has taught at restaurants and cooking schools throughout the United States and Europe. She has consulted with chefs at top-rated restaurants, including the Ritz Carlton and the Williamsburg Inn, and has shared her knowledge with medical professionals at cutting-edge medical/health programs including the University of California San Diego School of Integrative Medicine and Hahnemann University.

Sheri-Lynn is a Level 4 graduate of the Kushi Institute. She is the author of the book Macro Magic for Kids and Parents and is the host of an alternative health television cooking show Macro Magic. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and completed post-graduate studies in counseling from Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

Marilee Nelson

The Power of Removal:  An unrecognized and underutilized weapon against cancer

Marilee is a Board Certified Nutritionist, Certified Building-Biologist, Building Materials Specialist and is on the advisory board for Documenting Hope. For 30 years, she has worked with the chronically ill, children with disabilities, and the mold and chemically injured. She lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband. Marilee and two like-minded colleagues started their company, Branch Basics, to help people create healthy homes and experience the power of pure by removing toxins from your environment.
